A resident of New City, New York was sentenced Thursday to 37 months in prison for possessing images of children being sexually abused.

John C. Zerega, a former employee of a New Jersey country club, was also sentenced to 10 years of supervised release, and he is required to undergo mental health testing and treatment. Zerega, 55, must also register as a sex offender.

According to documents, the man downloaded videos and images of child pornography through peer-to-peer file sharing software. A search warrant of Zerega's residence in 2011 resulted in the seizure of his laptop, which contained numerous pictures and videos depicting child pornography.
