A second man who spent more than two decades in prison before his murder conviction was overturned is suing for malicious prosecution.

Anthony Alongi of Newark was one of three men convicted of the 1983 murders of a Florida couple at the New Jersey shore in an alleged drug setup.

He was released from prison in 2010 after an appeals court ruled he should have been allowed to represent himself at trial. Alongi’s lawsuit filed this week accuses the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office of withholding exculpatory evidence during the trial and appeals process.

A prosecutor’s office spokesman didn’t return a message seeking comment Wednesday Paul Kamienski, whose murder conviction was overturned in 2009, is also suing the prosecutor’s office. The third man convicted died in prison.
