NORTHFIELD -- Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo is the second Atlantic County elected official in as many weeks who has had to backtrack after sharing a Facebook post that some viewed as insensitive.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, the Democrat recently shared a video titled "Illegal Immigrants Training for the Trump Wall," showing men using ladders to scale a partition. Mazzeo said he quickly deleted the post once he realized what it was.

"I didn't have my glasses on," he said, as quoted in the report. "I was scrolling through my news feed. I have very bad vision with my reading, and I did share it, but I noticed that I posted it and I took it down immediately. It certainly is something I didn't want to share."

Last week, Atlantic County Freeholder John Carman, a Republican, had to apologize after he shared a pair of memes which lampooned the Women's March on Washington on Jan. 21.

Carman is facing re-election this year; Mazzeo is looking to move up from the Assembly and is running for a state Senate seat.

The Press of Atlantic City report quoted one Atlantic City native, who identified himself as a Democrat, as saying Mazzeo's post "just doesn't look good." The county Republican chair also weighed in, saying "even Mr. Magoo had more brains than Mazzeo."

Both Mazzeo and the Democratic county chairman have characterized the post as a mistake, the report said.
