New Jersey Braces for Steamy Weekend Weather
The Northeast is bracing for what's expected to be a sweltering weekend.
Many parts of the region are under heat advisories or excessive heat warnings.
The temperature is forecast to hit 99 degrees Friday at New York's LaGuardia Airport. Newark could hit the low 100s Friday, while the Boston and Hartford, Conn., areas are slated for highs in the mid-90s. Philadelphia could reach 97.
The National Weather Service says the humidity will be noticeable but not oppressive.
Temperatures are expected to remain in the mid- to upper-90s through Sunday.
Officials encouraged residents to avoid strenuous activity, drink plenty of water and check up on the elderly.
