New Jersey 101.5 remembers Sept. 11, 2001
The events of Sept. 11, 2001 remain a vivid and painful memory for many, even 13 years later. This year's memorial events in New Jersey are listed below, along with an opportunity to share your thoughts.
Nearly 3,000 lives were lost at the World Trade Center as two hijacked airliners were crashed into the towers that day. Another 44 persons died aboard Flight 93 when it was brought down in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. And nearly 200 were killed in Washington DC, when a jet struck the Pentagon.
Some 700 New Jersey residents lost their lives that day, 147 of them from Monmouth County, 38 of them from Middletown alone.
The 9/11 Memorial in New York will host its annual reading of the names of all the victims Thursday morning. The reading will be streamed live here.
Fire and Rain: The 9/11 Mix
The late Erik Van Ness, our Creative Services Director at the time, put together a special mix of James Taylor's Fire and Rain with audio clips from the events of the day. Erik lost his fight with cystic fibrosis in 2002.
