Christie will head to Mexico next month to promote business links between the country and New Jersey.

There are more than 200,000 New Jerseyans of Mexican descent. The state exported $2 billion worth of goods to Mexico last year, while importing nearly $3.5 billion.

It marks the second time Christie will travel outside of the country as governor. He visited Israel in 2012.

The trip also comes on the heels of a planned national fundraising sweep, throughout this month, in his role as head of the Republican Governor's Association.

Christie's next scheduled event back home in New Jersey is set for Thursday in Ocean City, where he holds the latest pension reform town hall.
