More Trouble for NJ Congressman Rob Andrews
The House Ethics Committee says it will take more time to review allegations that a New Jersey congressman misused campaign funds by spending them on personal expenses.
The committee said Friday that its decision to extend the probe of U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews, a New Jersey Democrat, does not indicate that there was an ethics violation. The committee made public a March report from the Office of Congressional Ethics that there is "substantial reason to believe" that Andrews misused campaign funds on trips to Scotland and California and a high school graduation party for his daughter.
Earlier this year, The Associated Press reported that the campaign-funded trips to California happened regularly beginning in 2007.
In a statement, Andrews says he followed all rules on campaign spending.
