The body of  10-year-old Francisco Perera was discovered in the Raritan River around 3PM on Monday afternoon. His best friend Devine Nicholas was found in the Raritan River at the base of the Albany Street bridge in Highland Park.

In a statement, New Brunswick Police said "A preliminary police investigation does not indicate foul play was involved in either juvenile’s death."

Franklin Township resident Jennifer Smakolski says she saw them in the Raritan River up to their ankles Sunday night and they told her they could swim. She tells the Star-Ledger  she'll be "thinking about this forever."

Police issued the alert for Perera  & Devine Nicholas early Monday afternoon. They were both last seen by their mothers on Somerset Street in New Brunswick early Sunday night headed for a park on nearby Harvey Street.

Devine's mother, Carol Leonard, told the Star Ledger that her son did not spend time at the river and that he could not swim.
