Lawyer: ‘Melrose’ Actress Chased Before Crash
A lawyer for an actress who appeared on TV's "Melrose Place" says the woman was being chased by another driver minutes before a crash that left one person dead.
Amy Locane-Bovenizer's trial on aggravated manslaughter and assault by auto charges began Thursday. She faces 10 to 30 years in prison if convicted.
The Star-Ledger reports that attorney Blair Zwillman told a Somerville jury that Locane-Bovenizer was pursued for 4 miles by a woman whose car she had rear-ended. He says the woman honked her horn and flashing her lights, causing Locane-Bovenizer to drive well over the speed limit.
The chase ended when the actress slammed into a vehicle pulling into a driveway. One person was killed and another injured.
Assistant prosecutor Matthew Murphy says Locane-Bovenizer's intoxication caused the crash.
