The state Parole Board has denied his request for parole.

MyCentralJersey.com reports Spicuzzo, who turns 70 this month, will have to wait at least another year before he can try again.

Spicuzzo has served two years of a nine-year sentence in a jobs-for-cash scheme that prosecutors said netted him $112,000 over a more than a decade.

Spicuzzo also ran the Democratic Party in the county for many years.

He pleaded guilty in 2013 to a single count of bribery as part of a plea deal and agreed to forfeit his state pension.

As part of the sentence, he was also fined $55,000.
