INXS was an Australian band that defied labeling.

They started with a new wave sound but eventually added dance and harder rock elements. Whatever they were, they were successful. They charted seven top ten hits.

Their first top ten was “What You Need” which peaked at #5 in 1986.  The next year saw the band release the album “Kick” which throttled the band to dizzying heights, spawning multiple hits, like “Need You Tonight” (their first and only #1), “The Devil Inside” (#2), “New Sensation” (#3), and “Never Tear Us Apart” (#7).

For whatever reason, I always liked their earlier material better, even if it wasn’t as popular, so I requested “Don’t Change” from 1983; it peaked at #80.  As a backup, I requested “Original Sin” (produced by Nile Rodgers) which topped out at #58, but Big Joe ignored me, as usual.
