Dessert for Breakfast?
When I was a kid, I remember begging my Mom for the popular sugar-filled cereals like Fruit Loops, Apple Jacks and the like. My friends all had them in their houses, so why couldn't I? Now that I'm a mom, I have to admit, I do the same thing. My kids get a choice of Cheerios, Kix or Rice Krispies. On occasion, for a special treat, they can have a more sugary cereal. The funny thing is, they're so used to not having it that they don't even ask.
I'm actually pretty happy about that after seeing a new survey by the Environmental Working Group which finds that many cereals marketed to children actually have more sugar in them than a Hostess Twinkie or three Chips Ahoy Cookies. You can hear the details of that survey in my reports on Thursday morning.
