The 61-year-old owner of a Jersey City clothing store was shot and killed inside his store during an attempted robbery, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Sunday.

According to the prosecutor, the incident took place Saturday at about 4 p.m.

"Jersey City Police were dispatched to Top Plus, located at 905 Bergen Ave. in Jersey City, on a report from a caller hearing a loud thud and male on the floor inside the clothing store at that location," Suarez said in a press release.

Authorities said when officers arrived at the store, they found Byungeun Lee of Palisades Park, inside the store. The prosecutor said he had "an apparent gun-shot wound(s) to his upper body."

"The victim was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 4:15 p.m. Based on the preliminary investigation, homicide detectives believe the victim was killed during a robbery."

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, according to the press release.
