TRENTON -- Gov. Chris Christie is telling people worried about long lines at the state Motor Vehicle Commission to not wait until the end of the month.

Responding to a question about recent computer problems at the MVC, the Republican governor said Tuesday that waits always go up on the last few days of the month as people need to renew licenses and registrations.

But Christie says people shouldn't wait until the end of the month and should also take advantage of online renewal options.

MVC offices were unable to process license transactions because of computer problems on two separate days last week. Christie blamed a problem between the MVC's new computer system and the state's computers.
