Asbury Park Voters Decide to Change Government
NEW JERSEY 101.5
Asbury Park is getting a new form of government.
Voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly supported changing to a council-manager form in which the mayor is elected instead of appointed by the City Council.
The Asbury Park Press reports there will be a nonpartisan election in November, giving council members staggered terms. Initially, they'll draw straws to determine who will serve two-year or four-year terms during the first election cycle.
