Oh come on. This AI thing is getting ridiculous. You’ve heard the story Cyrano de Bergerac where a big-nosed poet writes love letters and supplies romantic words for a tongue-tied man. Okay at least that was a human.

Now imagine not only using AI for your romantic communications but also for relationship advice and even breakup letters. Have we all lost our minds to technology?

No, actually, it’s our souls we’ve lost.

A survey by Wingmate shows people are using AI in almost all aspects of dating in 2026. 56% of respondents call it a helpful tool.

Okay, so how are we using it?

62% are using AI to write their dating app profiles. Don’t you have to wonder what people do when they show up for that first date and they’re not nearly as witty as their writing? (Which, of course, isn't really their writing.)

57% say asking AI for dating advice is better than asking their friends’ opinions. Yeah well when it all comes crashing down AI isn’t going to meet you at the bar and drive you home when you drink too much after the breakup.

Oh, speaking of breakups, 41% have used AI to write breakup letters for them. In fact, young adults ages 18 to 29 make up the largest group using AI for breaking up, which shouldn’t come as a surprise.

In possibly the most disturbing result of the research, 34% are seeking direct dating advice from AI as if it’s a personal qualified mental health therapist.

I’m going to try an experiment here. Hey ChatGPT how should I end this last paragraph?

"There’s nothing wrong with using AI to check your grammar or organize your thoughts. But when a computer is writing your dating profile, giving you relationship advice and composing your breakup message, it’s fair to ask whether technology is helping us communicate or slowly replacing our ability to do it ourselves."

That’s what it came up with. Here’s my own ending.

If you’re seriously going to replace human love with technology, then I say you deserve neither.
