Senate President Sweeney’s New Zeal for Same-Sex Marriage

Popular political wisdom holds that the Legislative Democrats are scheming to put Governor Christie in the political corner by loudly clamoring for Same-sex Marriage and increased Minimum Wage. The governor is considered to be opposed to both. And so if he thwarts passage of either, he can be painted as being so far-Right a conservative that he is

Electing a New Congress, Redressing the Old

I have come to the suspicion, amounting almost to a conviction, that our political system is screwed up beyond any hope of fixing. Short, that is, of an economic, military, or environmental disaster that wipes out the status quo and forces us back to basics.  But one interesting solution

The Art of Conversation is Being Halted by Technology

Christmas Eve we had dinner at a restaurant in Cherry Hill. Next to our table there was a large party of some dozen or more people of all ages, representing, no doubt, several generations of the same family. From the gray haired patriarch and matriarch down the age scale to young children. At first there was much happy chatter as might be expected.
