Far too often issues are simplified and glossed over with broad statements, so this morning we took time to discuss the complex matter of gender in light of the  Trenton High homecoming controversy.

A transgender teen was recently elected homecoming queen at Trenton High, sparking a dispute over whether the student, who was born and registered at the school as a male, should've received the female category crown. Complicating the matter even further, are allegations of a teacher rigging the vote so that it would go to a trans student.

Diane, a caller who identified as transgender, shared what it's like to experience gender dysphoria. As the discussion progressed, we were able to find common ground in recognizing the struggle that this creates for people.
