The New Jersey Assembly voted 45-27 last year to approve a the 23-cent-per-gallon hike in the state gas tax. In the state Senate, it was 24-14.

And aside from those who've decided not to run again, every single one of those legislators is up for election on Nov. 7.

You've been asking on the air, through email and on social media about the politicians who voted for the gas tax —and last year I repeatedly urged you to #RememberInNovember — so here's that list. It includes plenty of members of both parties.

But a year later, it seems to me that this election has to be far more about moving forward than punishing backward. Keep in mind, you will have a choice in most districts to elect a person who will stand up to the Murphy agenda if he wins and someone who will support the Guadagno plan if she's elected.

Of course, you may decide to simply vote against a candidate because of the gas tax vote. I can't say that I'd blame you. Whether these politicians deserve your support or not is up to you, but for me the focus on the next two weeks is to elect a governor with a plan to lower taxes and create jobs.

If Murphy wins with a stronger majority of Democrats he'll essentially have a blank check to your bank account. Let's to get the word out that we have to look forward and hopefully send the right person to Trenton as our next governor to pull us out of the mess we're in because of failed policies and broken promises. That requires some thoughtful voices in the legislature to push back on the expected majority of tax-raising and debt-spending Democrats.
