Winter begins its return to New Jersey as temperature fall into the 20s and 30s around the state and the first snow of the season falls.

As the clouds clear up after today's rain, Somerset, Hunterdon, Morris, Bergen and Passaic counties are under a Frost Advisory from 2 a.m. - 9 a.m.  for the first of several nights during which temperatures are expected to be near freezing which could cause damage to uncovered sensitive plants and crops.

Winter's arrival is put off to the south as low temperatures along the Shore stay in the upper 30s.

The Severe NJ Weather Facebook page says the first wet flurries of 2013-14 fell in Sussex County this morning.Some lighter snow fell in western Maryland and near Pittsburgh as well.

Temperatures will only be in the 50s on Thursday and Friday under sunny skies.
