Baseball – Brad DeMartino, Sr., LHP, Westfield

DeMartino threw a complete-game six-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk to help Westfield upend a high-scoring Governor Livingston team, 5-3, to win its county-record 14th Union County Tournament championship. DeMartino also threw a four-hitter, striking out five, in a 4-1 win over Cranford in the UCT semifinals.

 

Softball – Naomi Stas, Jr., P, Pinelands

Stas struck out seven and walked two to earn tournament MVP honors in a 3-2 victory over Jackson Memorial that gave Pinelands its first Ocean County Tournament championship in school history. She also added a double and a run scored at the plate in the win.

 

 Boys lacrosse - Chris Blewitt, Sr., Attack, Bergen Catholic

Blewitt had two goals and four assists for a team-high six points as the state’s No. 1 team won its first Bergen County Tournament title since 2009 with a 16-5 win over Northern Highlands to remain unbeaten. Blewitt also had three goals and two assists in a 12-5 win over Ramapo in the semifinals.

 

 Boys volleyball – Thomas Burrell, Sr., Middle Hitter, St. Joseph-Metuchen

Burrell helped lead the way in an impressive performance as St. Joe’s went 4-0 against four of the state’s top 10 teams, including No. 1 Southern, to sweep the day at the annual Super Six Showcase in Metuchen. In the win over defending NJSIAA champion Southern, Burrell had 10 kills, 2 blocks and 2 aces in a 25-23, 25-21 victory.

 

 Girls track – Emily Bracher, Jr., Freehold Township

Bracher won the 800-meter race at the Monmouth County Championships in Holmdel in a meet-record 2:11.21, which is the fastest time in the state this season. Bracher’s time is also the third-fastest in state history, and it helped Freehold Township finish second as a team in the county.
