Jim discussed the new law this morning that now allows service dogs on school buses with students.    Previously, the law only allowed service animals to accompany students with disabilities in classrooms or on school grounds. Now, the dogs or other service animals are allowed on the school bus as well.

One of the type of service dogs discussed on the show today, were dogs that help prevent anxiety attacks. The dogs detect an increased level of cortisol that is secreted through the body during stress.

Here's a great video that shows how a service dog helps a soldier that starts to have an anxiety attack during an interview, which his dog detects. These animals are invaluable for out combat veterans who often need a companion for stress but who don't want to bother people every time they get upset. The dogs would help students the same exact way.
