Most women are back to work, but they're not necessarily back to normal.

The latest figures do not necessarily suggest that females are making substantially less than males while doing the same exact job.

In a survey of domestic workers in New Jersey, more than half said they have been a victim of wage theft.

Advocates say females have been disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and the new academic year for kids could push the needle even further.

"This is a critically important part of the law that should not be overlooked," said Debra Lancaster, executive director of the Rutgers Center for Women and Work.

On the bright side, New Jersey ranks third among the states for the median weekly earnings of women.

Nationally, the gender gap is 26.5 percent, or $91,284, in favor of men, the report states. The gap is even wider in New Jersey.

It took until April 4, 2017 for women in the United States to finally earn as much money as men had earned in 2016.
