The Obama Administration has granted a 5-day extension of the federal cost share for Hurricane Sandy, from 75 percent to 100 percent for emergency power restoration and emergency public transportation assistance, including direct federal ass istance, for those areas of New Jersey within counties designated for public assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has approved more than $411 million in housing and other aid for Superstorm Sandy victims in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.
JCP+L says they expect their customers who lost power during Sandy to be restored "the end of the weekend" but those who went dark during the Nor'easter will have a longer wait.
Down from 2.7 million, more than 300,000 electric customers remained without power late Wednesday from Hurricane Sandy last week, but the second part of the one-two punch on New Jersey, this week's nor'easter, put a snag in the state's recovery efforts.
