A native of Poland, Dagmara Wozniak immigrated to Avenel, NJ when she was just one and started fencing by the time she was 9. After graduating from Colonia High School, Wozniak decided to fence for Saint John’s University. Wozniak played a critical role in the U.S. team’s third place victory at the 2012 World Team Championship. Wozniak is currently ranked as the number two saber fencer in the U.S. and the number ten saber fencer in the world.

This will be Wozniak’s second appearance at the Olympics, as she went to the 2008 games as an alternate.

OLYMPIC UPDATE: Wozniak won her first two individual saber matches, but lost in the quarterfinals to Russian Sophia Velikaia.
