Play Ball! MLB Players ‘Walk-up’ Songs
Finally, the baseball season starts for real this week. It's become a tradition that players have a few moments of their favorite songs played on the Public Address system when they come up to bat. Here's a sampling of those "walk-up" songs.
I chose six players from each of the three local MLB teams. I've included three position players and three pitchers from each team.
I think a few of the songs are great. Most of the music is not my cup of tea. Let it be known I'm a coffee drinker (ha ha) but everyone's entitled to their musical taste.
We'll start off with The Amazin' Mets:
Curtis Granderson.."Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" by Busta Rhymes
Daniel Murphy.."Tell The World" by LeCrae
David Wright.."Jump Around" by House of Pain
Dillon Gee.."Crazy Town" by Jason Aldean
Jonathon Niese.."The Only Way I Know" by Jason Aldean
I'm guessing that they both like Jason Aldean, Niese and Gee share the same MP3 player
Bobby Parnell.."Bad Company" by Five Finger Death Punch (one of my favorites..not!)
Here we go Fightin' Phils fans:
Chase Utley.."Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin
Ryan Howard.."Mercy" by Kayne West
Jimmy Rollins.."Function" by E40
Cole Hamels.."What If This Storm Ends" by Snow Patrol
Cliff Lee.."Stranglehold" by Ted Nugent
Jonathan Papelbon.."For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica
And, da Bronx Bombers:
Derek Jeter.."Otis" by Jay Z
Mark Teixeira.."I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister
Brian Mccann.."Home Boy" by Eric Church
C.C. Sabathia.."Big Poppa" by Notorious B.I.G.
David Robertson.."Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Hiroki Kuroda.."The Whip" by Locksley
One of the great things about the start of a new baseball season is "hope". High expectations and the hope of winning The World Series.
In early November will either the Mets, Yankees or Phillies be playing Queen's "We Are The Champions"?
Stay tuned.
