Forever 39 is New Jersey 101.5's new podcast about living life as Gen Xers in New Jersey, hosted by Annette Petriccione, Megan Barsel and lots of our friends from the NJ 101.5 universe.

First impressions — Do you judge someone when first meeting them?

From hair to body, teeth and overall presence … do you judge someone when fist meeting them? If you answered yes, you're not alone. Most of us are guilty of taking inventory of someone new.

According to studies, we determine a lot about people and how likable we find them in the first seven seconds of meeting them. SEVEN SECONDS!!! That's not a lot of time to make a good first impression.

So how can you put your best foot forward? Forbes has five tips that could help make a good first impression, and many online articles show that smiling helps ... a lot!

And when it comes to dating, people can be really judgemental. Match.com recently released its "Singles in America" survey and it shows that singles are a very judgemental bunch:

  • 42 percent of singles judge a date by their social media pictures and posts
  • 39 percent judge a date by their use of grammar
  • 37 percent zone in on a date's smile and teeth
  • 35 percent judge their date's clothing choices

What is the first thing you zone in on when meeting someone new?
