Chris Christie Offers Condolences to Connecticut Victims’ Families
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is calling Friday's elementary school massacre in Connecticut as "an unspeakable tragedy."
The 50-year-old governor paused at the start of a new conference in Sea Bright to offer condolences to the families of the 20 children and six adult victims of the rampage. The gunman is also dead.
Christie said, "Our hearts and prayers go out to Gov. Malloy and the families of each of those victims. Ten days before Christmas it's unthinkable that you send your children to school and they're in harm's way."
The governor and his wife are the parents of four children ages 9 to 19.
His message to residents was that New Jerseyans are with them in their mourning and grief.
