The Garden State will see a few showers through the Easter Weekend too.

Bye-bye 80s. Bye-bye 70s. While the recent taste of early Summer was much-needed and much-appreciated, cooler air will enact a return to more typical April weather on Thursday. Even as temperatures end up ~20 degrees cooler, our forecast actually still looks pleasant for the next few days.

Thursday morning's temperatures are bottoming out in the 40s in many spots. That means you'll probably want a jacket as you dash out the front door. We'll enjoy mostly sunny skies to start, with occasional clouds through Thursday afternoon. A stiff northwesterly breeze picked up overnight, and will continue throughout the day (up to about 20 mph).

High temperatures will be limited to the lower to mid 60s. With normal highs for April 13 around 61 degrees, we can call it a typical, seasonable, pleasant day. It will remain cooler along the Jersey Shore, with highs in the 50s.

A stray shower may visit Thursday evening. Otherwise, it will be a mostly clear, quiet, and chilly night. Lows will fall into the lower 40s.

The forecast for Good Friday looks... ummm... good! I'd even call it great. Mostly sunny skies will join seasonable high temperatures once again in the lower to mid 60s.

Saturday will end up OK. Clouds will increase, and we could see a late-day shower. High temps should hold steady in the lower 60s.

Things will get complicated for Easter Sunday, as a pair of storm systems will provide for a pair of showers — one in the early morning, and one in the evening. The rain will take the form of mostly showers, although I wouldn't rule out a thunderstorm in the late-day round of rain. Total rainfall will be light, on the order of a tenth of an inch (maybe two).

But here's the thing about Sunday: Most of the day looks fine! Skies will feature a mix of sun and clouds in between the scattered rain chances. High temperatures will soar to the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, thanks to a brisk southwesterly wind.

The extended forecast for early next week shows a slight cooldown for Monday, followed by a return to near-normal temperatures by Tuesday. Our next storm system of any significance is currently modeled for Wednesday, which could produce a period of steady rain across the Garden State.
