Donald Trump to LGBT voters in June of 2016: "I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs."

President Trump in July of 2017: "After consultation with my generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you."

It is estimated we already have as many as 6,000 transgender people serving in our military. Ashton Carter, former Secretary of Defense, points out, "There are already transgender individuals who are serving capably and honorably."

What's the problem? And what of those thousands already serving? Are we about to kick them out? if you're going to cite "tremendous medical costs" that argument is specious at best. A RAND Corporation study shows the cost to provide services to transgender active military personnel amounts to 0.004 to 0.017% of the total health care spending by the Defense Department. $2.4 million to $8.4 million out of $49.3 BILLION in 2014.

So what's left in the argument. Disruption? What disruption?

Listen, if someone wants to defend our country and fight for me and is otherwise qualified, I do not care if they are a man, a woman, white, black, straight, gay, born one way but identifies another, or anything else. Transgender people should be allowed to love their country enough to fight for it as well as anyone else. The president's own words say they will not be allowed to serve in ANY capacity. So far beyond the front lines, even sitting stateside in an office doing paperwork for the military will not be allowed? I'm dying to hear every neanderthal's argument to support this.

This is another sad day for this country.
