Blue view: Chokehold victim caused his own death

NEW YORK (AP) -- Eric Garner was overweight and in poor health. He was a nuisance to shop owners who complained about him selling untaxed cigarettes on the street. When police came to arrest him, he resisted. And if he could repeatedly say, "I can't breathe," it means he could breathe.

Police shooting in housing project ruled homicide

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York City medical examiner announced Monday that the police killing of an unarmed man in a dark public housing stairwell was a homicide, and politicians planned to meet with prosecutors later in the day to discuss the findings.

Worker acquitted in glass-in-Big Mac case wins $437K settlement

NEW YORK (AP) -- A former McDonald's worker acquitted of charges he placed shards of glass into a police officer's Big Mac nearly a decade ago has won a $437,000 settlement from the city after arguing the officer fabricated the story to win money by suing the fast food restaurant.

Medical Examiner: Police chokehold caused NYC man’s death
