A drug investigation in Paterson gets violent as a suspect is shot at by State Police when he drives his car towards the officer.

 Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa says State Police detectives were conducting an investigation in the parking lot of the Chamberlain Avenue Shopping Center.

After witnessing a drug transaction, an officer approached a black Lexus driven by 26-year-old Ariel Acosta, who drove the car towards the detective, hitting the officer in the right leg.

He fired one shot at Acosta as he became pinned between an unmarked police car and the Lexus.

Acosta and passengers  Yoel Sanchez, 30, of Paterson and an armed 17-year-0ld male, also from Paterson, were arrested without incident. They all face weapons charges while Acosta also was charged with attempted murder. Bail will be set by a Passaic County Superior Court Judge at a Friday hearing.
