Figaro is a handsome tuxedo cat at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. He was surrendered by this owners because they were moving. He's had some trouble adjusting to shelter life and was so shy at first that he hid for weeks. After a while, he accepted attention from the shelter volunteers and staff who would not give up on him.

Soon a new cat emerged, more confident and friendly. Now he is curious about his new world and wants to engage everyone who makes eye contact with him. Figaro has a sweet personality and likes being petted. Figaro is neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and FIV/FeLv negative.

If you're interested in meeting Fiargo or adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Lennox, a Pit Bull mix at the Ewing Animal Shelter, is a friendly dog who is good with other dogs, cats and kids. He was surrendered by his owner who had to move to a place that doesn't allow dogs. Lennox is high energy, so it might take him time to readjust to being in a home. He's always been doing great at weekly training sessions and adoption events.

If you’re interested in learning more about Lennox or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Jax

Introducing Jax, the only snowball found in the summer! Jax is a beautiful 1-year-old boy who looks like an American Eskimo Dog mixed with an American White Shepherd. He is a medium-size dog with delicate legs and paws. He has a fluffy, snowy white coat with some patches of cream, not to mention his cute, curled over plumed tail!  Attention makes him smile from ear to ear!  And once you gain his trust, Jax is super friendly. He especially likes to lean against people while they give him some scratches behind his ears. Jax is a little wary of strangers and may bark when he meets new people, which is a behavior the two breeds have in common.

Jax would do best in a home that can offer him exercise, playtime and a nice yard to run around because he has lots of energy. A funny thing that Jax does is he rolls around in the grass, but it's like he's swimming on his side. He has a blast doing it and it's hilarious to watch! Jax will need to be groomed regularly to maintain his magnificent coat. An air-conditioned home is a must.

For some general information about the two breeds, please check out these websites:  http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americaneskimo.htm and http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanwhiteshepherd.htm.

Please take a moment to view a YouTube video of Jax here.
