Joining the long line of crazy lawsuits in New Jersey history is a Mr. Kyu Taik Chung. The New Milford man is suing the owners of an apartment complex for negligently leaving a Christmas tree for trash pickup. You see, on the morning of March 12, 2015, it was at least partially left on the sidewalk according to the lawsuit filed in Bergen County Superior Court.

His lawyer claims the landlord "recklessly, carelessly and/or negligently" allowed an unsafe hazard. A discarded Christmas tree. Set out for trash pickup. Hmmmm.

"The plaintiff suffered severe and permanent injuries, was disabled and disfigured, has suffered and will continue to suffer great pain and torment, both mental and physical," claims the suit. They say he has been unable to work or even proceed with daily activities. Of course he's seeking a jury trial and unspecified monetary damages.

People are shameless. It's called step around the damn thing! If you claim you didn't see it, it's called watch where you're walking! Mental torment? Can he no longer look at a pine tree without having a panic attack? What, no 'loss of consort'? Gotta throw that in for good measure! Where the rest of us see a discarded Christmas tree on a March morning, some see a paycheck.
