PENNS GROVE — A police officer has been charged with kicking a handcuffed man in his custody.

Penns Grove officer George Manganaro kicked the man in the face on Thanksgiving Day in Carney's Point, according to Salem County Prosecutor John Lenahan. The cop was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Lenahan did not explain what led up to kicking incident or why the man, who has not been identified, had been arrested.

Manganaro has been an officer with Penns Grove since 2010, according to his Linkedin page.

Philly.com reported that a Penns Grove councilwoman and school board member were charged with assaulting Manganaro as he investigated possible underage drinking during a youth basketball game at Penns Grove Middle School in 2014.
