When you have a dad who sings about “living on a prayer” it’s not hard to believe that your prayer could be answered and it was for Jesse Bongiovi. The son of the famous rocker Jon Bon Jovi, made the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame football team as a walk-on as a cornerback.

‘The Asbury Park Press reports the freshman is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 183 pounds, and was a standout at Poly Prep High School in Brooklyn.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly makes it clear that the younger Bongiovi earned his place on the team.

“Jesse has earned his spot on the (roster),” Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly told csnchicago.com. “He’s a tough kid.

“The kids really like him. They respect him. They don’t look at him as a rock star’s son. They look at him as a kid that loves Notre Dame and wants to play football and help this team.”

Perhaps if the Irish make a bowl game, Jesse could ask his father to play halftime. Or perhaps Dad will be busy preparing for halftime at that Big Game at Met Life Stadium in February.
