Flemington Man Charged After Causing School Lockdown

Bail is set at $50,000 for a man who authorities say caused the lockdown of several schools in Hunterdon County.

Jonathan Jamison of Flemington is charged with possession of an imitation firearm for unlawful purpose and possession of a firearm for unlawful purpose.

Authorities say the 19-year-old was spotted acting suspiciously with a mask and gun near Exxon Research on Route 31 in Clinton Township on Tuesday. Exxon security guards told police the man was in a vehicle across from North Hunterdon High School.

Police recovered what appeared to be an M-16 rifle that turned out to be an imitation equipped with a real silencer and scope.

Police locked down Clinton Township schools, North Hunterdon High School and Immaculate Conception School as a precaution.
