Atlantic City Man Arrested After School Lockdown

The New York Avenue School in Atlantic City was placed in lockdown mode for about a half hour Wednesday morning as police responded to reports of a male with a gun.

Atlantic City resident Anthony Allen, 25, was taken into custody after an extended foot chase ended at Stanley Holmes Village.

A handgun was later recovered inside a dumpster. It was loaded with hollow-point bullets. Investigators discovered the weapon was reported stolen during a burglary in 2011.

Allen has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, criminal restraint, obstructing the administration of law, and receiving stolen property.
