Lodi Man Charged in Shooting of Grandmother
Prosecutors say a northern New Jersey man shot his 85-year-old grandmother multiple times while she slept on a living room couch in her home.
Bail was set Monday at $2 million for Jospeh Bariso of Lodi. He’s charged with attempted murder, hindering apprehension and a weapons offense.
It’s not clear what sparked the shooting of Olga Bariso, which occurred early Sunday at her Union Street home. Bergen County prosecutors say she underwent surgery shortly after the shooting occurred and remained hospitalized Monday in critical condition.
Prosecutors say Joseph Bariso, who also lived at the home, shot his grandmother with a handgun and then fled the residence. He was found around 1:15 p.m. Sunday walking on a street in Rutherford, but the weapon he allegedly used has not been recovered.
