Teen Charged in Accidental Newark Shooting
Newark authorities have filed aggravated assault and weapons charges against a teenager accused of accidentally shooting his friend in the face.
City Police Director Samuel DeMaio tells The Star-Ledger that the shooting apparently occurred Sunday night while a group of teens were apparently playing with the weapon in a bedroom.
The suspect accidentally fired the gun in the direction of a 15-year-old Elizabeth boy, who was hit in the mouth. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Authorities announced the charges Monday. But they did not release the name of either teen due to their ages.
