TRENTON — Three roommates had a rude awakening Christmas morning after an argument landed the trio in handcuffs.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were sent to the home of Mayra Lopez, 30, Eres Rivera, 44, and Noe Lara, 50 in the 600 block of Chestnut Avenue to intervene in an argument during which Lara was hit in the head with a pot full of hot coffee, according to a report in The Trentonian.

Officials told The Trentonian that Lara punched Lopez in the face during an argument, provoking Lopez to hit him in the head with a coffee pot. The pot shattered onto a 10-month child who was in the room with an 11-year-old child.

All three roommates were arrested and charged with assault as well as endangering the welfare of a child, according to the report.
