Senator Joe Vitale introduced a bill last year to assist the victims of of sexual abuse that would eliminate the statute of limitations for those abused to come forward and sue their abusers. Senator Vitale's bill was reintroduced after failing to pass in the previous legislative session. Fast forward to 2012, and Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald introduces The Child Protection Act of 2012.

This bill would limit the liability of institutions, such as the Church and its clergymen, if and when lawsuits are filed. Greenwald's bill would eliminate the statute of limitations also, but ONLY for FUTURE cases.
