Federal agents and local police converged on a home in the Jersey City Heights section Wednesday morning, investigating a series of letters that appeared to threaten several locations in New Jersey and New York, authorities said.

Gov. Chris Christie’s administration is requiring New Jersey municipalities to accept payments for 2018 property taxes and credit them as received in 2017, so long as they’re postmarked by Dec. 31.

Some New Jersey towns are starting to reassess their tax bases on an annual basis instead of every five or 10 years.
