Producers of the musical "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will be hoping they've won the golden ticket when they transfer the show from London to Broadway in the spring of 2017.

The show will be directed by Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, who takes over from Sam Mendes, who will still be part of the producing team under his Neal Street Productions banner.

The show, which has songs by "Hairspray" writers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, opened in the West End in 2013 starring Douglas Hodge as Willy Wonka. The adaptation of Roald Dahl's much-loved children's novel got mixed reviews but has done good box office business.

The cast, dates and design team will be announced later.
