HUNTER , N.Y. — A Monmouth County man was killed when he skied off a trail at Hunter Mountain.

New York State Police said Zachary T. Thompson, 20, of Cream Ridge in Upper Freehold, was skiing on the Racers Edge trail, a double black diamond (expert) trail, when he lost control and hit several trees.

He was taken by the ski patrol to an ambulance where he was pronounced dead. Police are treating the incident as an accident and do not suspect foul play.

A 58-year-old man died on a Hunter Mountain expert trail about a month ago when he went off the trail, according to NBC 4 New York.

According to his Facebook page, Thompson graduated from New Egypt High School.

Thompson worked for Under Armour, according to a Facebook post by assistant store manager Melinda Cruz Vega, who said Thompson as a "young man with limitless potential."  She said Thompson "had exciting plans for his future, goals he wanted to reach & always had a smile on his face for everyone."
