Missing East Windsor Man Found in State Forest
The body of a missing 81-year-old man from East Windsor has been found in the Bass River State Forest.
The family of Phillps Brooks made the announcement on the Find Phil Facebook page they created to help in the search.
"New Jersey State police found (Phil's) vehicle today in Bass River State Forest in Tuckerton, NJ and he was 2 miles from the vehicle."
State Police do not suspect foul play in Brooks' death, according to NBC Philadelphia. Brooks had last been seen on the morning of April 4 driving away from his home at the Meadow Lakes Retirement Community in East Windsor. EZ Pass records showed he passed through the Cape May toll plaza shortly afterwards. He suffered from dementia and vertigo recently.
His daughter, Lauren Hebert of Cranbury, had mounted an active social media campaign to bring attention to her father's disappearance.
"We’re trying to get more pictures out there versus just the Silver Alert," Herbert told the Times of Trenton
The family says services will be announced soon for both New Jersey and Massachusetts, where he had lived before moving to New Jersey to be closer to his family.
