Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said in a statement Friday Yoseop Choi is now facing a charge of first-degree aggravated manslaughter.

The Fort Lee man is being held in Bergen County Jail on $1 million bail. He also faces aggravated assault and child endangerment charges.

Authorities say the boy died Thursday after being removed from life support at Bellevue Hospital in New York.

Choi brought the boy to the hospital July 28 in cardiac arrest. He also had a severe head injury and a healing rib fracture.

Choi's lawyer, Anthony Iacullo, has said his client pleaded not guilty to earlier charges but did not immediately return a message regarding the upgraded charge.
