Summer is officially behind us and the first weekend of fall is here in New Jersey. This is one of my favorite times of the year.

There are so many great things to do throughout the Garden State this weekend, from Irish celebrations to BBQ & beer festivals. I've put together a list of some fun and exciting events taking place this weekend.

  • Where: 96th Street, Stone Harbor, NJ
  • When: September 23rd, from noon until 9 PM.
  • Details: A showcase the best food, wine, microbrews, art, music and culture the area has to offer. Oyster and clam shucking, carnival games, zoo animals and art activities for kids, a grape stomping competition and a café with fire pits for the evening live entertainment.
  • Where: Sunset Lake, Wildwood Crest, NJ
  • When: September 23rd, from 9 AM until 5 PM, followed by live music at 7:30 PM
  • Details: Massive bayfront street festival at Sunset Lake, followed by live music and fireworks at Centennial Park. Festival includes live music, craft vendors, food, family entertainment, children's activities and much more. Admission is free!
  • Where: Farmingdale Allaire Village, Farmingdale, NJ
  • When: September 23rd, from noon until 4 PM.
  • Details: Celebrate the Harvest Season with the Villagers! With the arrival of Autumn comes a day of family fun with activities such as apple cider pressing, apple toss, militia demonstrations, hearth cooking, children's games, horse & wagon rides, and more
  • Where: Sunset Lake, Wildwood Crest, NJ
  • When: September 23rd Wildwood Crest with races scheduled at 8:45 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 11:45 AM.
  • Details: 3 swim courses and a stand up paddleboard race, where swimmers of all ages from all over the area sign up to compete.
  • Where: Seaside Heights, NJ
  • When: September 23rd-24th from 11:30 AM until 9 PM on Saturday, 11:30 AM until 5:30 PM on Sunday
  • Annual BBQ State Championship and Festival on Grant Ave. Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, it features contestants from throughout the tri-state area. The festival will include large BBQ vendors, artists and crafters, as well as retail vendors and all day musical entertainment
  • Where: 40 White Street, Red Bank, NJ
  • When: September 24th from noon until 7 PM.
  • Details: Huge family friendly, food, music, beer & wine festival celebrating the opening of oyster season. This event showcases Red Bank's excellent restaurants and entertains thousands with continuous live music on two stages.
  • Where: Huddy Park in Highlands, NJ
  • When: September 24th, with registration opening at 7am and closing at 10:30am.
  • Details: Choose from four routes for all ages levels along some of NJ's most spectacular seashore and countryside scenery.
  • Where: LaCosta Lounge, 400 Landis Avenue in Sea Isle City, NJ
  • When: September 22nd-24th
  • Details: This yearly Celtic celebration will feature live Irish music and dancing, an Irish Vendor Market, great food and countless festival-goers Wearin' the Green.
  • Where: Olde NJ Ave, North Wildwood, NJ
  • When: September 21st-24th, from 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM daily
  • Details: The largest Irish Festival on the East Coast  4-day event celebrates Irish heritage w/ dancing, music, food, vendors and crafts. Includes golf tournament, amateur boxing matches, Irish dance lessons, 5k run and 1 mile walk, pipe exhibition, Catholic Mass and concludes with a parade on Surf Ave on Sunday
  • Where: Tuckerton Seaport & Tip Seaman Park, 120 W. Main St, Tuckerton, NJ
  • When: September 23rd-24th beginning at 7:00 AM
  • Details: Two-day event highlighting the culture of the Barnegat Bay region. Demonstrations, contests, seminars, crafters, carvers, vendors, food and music. Includes the Dock Dog competition as featured on ESPN!
  • Where: Amhurst Ave between Decatur & Coolidge, Margate City, NJ
  • When: September 23rd-24th, from 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM
  • Details: Celebrate the start of fall with two full days of amusements, entertainment, crafts and food along Amherst Avenue.
