ISIS Airstrikes Begin - The U.S. has carried out the first strikes on ISIS inside Syria's borders. A handful of Arab countries joined in the coordinated attacks using fighter jets, drones, and ship based missiles in and around the city of Raqqa, a stronghold for Islamic State. It's still too early to tell the impact and no one from the Pentagon or the White House is speaking publicly.

 

A Campus Grieves - For the first time in modern history, authorities have confirmed a black bear attacked and killed a person in New Jersey. They're not absolutely sure they know why it happened, but they have a pretty good idea.

Darsh Patelis the second Rutgers student to die this week. 19-year old Caitlyn Kovacs died this weekend after a night of drinking at a frat party. Grief counselors are on campus this morning. Students and faculty have been collectively griefing on social media...

Preparing for Bears - State officials insist the deadly black bear attack on a hiker a few days ago was extremely rare and completely out of character. But with bears now living in all 21 counties in New Jersey, they're nevertheless advising all Garden State residents to be ready for this kind of encounter.

No Pressure - The owner of the Baltimore Ravens is denying that he pressured the NFL to go easy on Ray Rice. Steve Bisciotti says he expected Rice to get up to a six game suspension and was as surprised as anyone else when it was only two games. And coach Jim Harbaugh is also denying reports he asked for Rice to be cut after the first video of him dragging his fiance from an elevator at Revel surfaced.

Armed and Dangerous - There is some disturbing new information about the man who was arrested sprinting into the White House with a knife last Friday. After his arrest, they found his car full of weapons. But this is not the first time he was arrested. Police in Virginia arrested him this summer with a car stuffed with weapons and a map with the White House circled on it.


Dropping Prices -
Lower gas prices in New Jersey and the news just keeps getting better with nearly 40 stations around the state pumping regular gas for under $3 per gallon.

Dropping Weight - Governor Christie continues losing weight perhaps to settle questions about his health. At a reception in New York for big money conservative donors, the New York Times reports Christie was repeatedly questioned about his health and revealed he has lost 85-pounds since undergoing weight-loss surgery last year.

On Guard for Parvovirus -  There's a silent killer that is taking the lives of dogs in the Central Jersey area.

Drought Threat - Are we on the edge of a drought? The state climatologist says maybe. Rivers and streams are lower than they should be and the only county that is not in a rain deficit is Ocean County. The rest of the state has had below average rainfall.

Left Behind - The economy may be rebounding, but that's not helping a large chunk of America's long-term unemployed. That's from a new national Rutgers study which suggests those who have been jobless for an extended period of time are being left behind.

Happy Birthday Boss - Bruce Springsteen turns 65 today. A new poll conducted right in his backyard, at Monmouth University, reveals most Springsteen fans are in the boss's age bracket...

Suicide Leaps - Local officials in Middlesex County want safety barriers installed on county bridges to prevent suicide leaps. Last week, two people lept to thier death. A 32-year old Plainfield man jumped off the Driscoll Bridge, and a 16-year old boy went off the Victory Bridge.

School Bus Driver Cited - A school bus driver has been cited for careless driving after she was involved in an accident last weekend that left seven Absegami High School students with minor injuries. The 65-year old driver was ferrying kids to a band competition when she hit another bus that had stopped in front of her in Medford Township.

"Moose's Law" - Moose was a chocolate lab from Delran who died in a hot car in two summers ago after being kidnapped by a woman who worked with animals for a living. An assembly panel has advanced a bill to really crack down on animal cruelty offenders in New Jersey.

Scam Alert - Toms River Police are again warning about phone scams for criminals who ultimately want to get access to your computer.
