NJ woman killed in massive 64-vehicle crash in PA
A New Jersey woman was among the victims of a fatal 64-vehicle pile-up on Rt. 78 in Pennsylvania Saturday morning.
According to pennlive.com, Francisca V. Pear, 54, was pronounced dead at the scene. The massive crash occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Feb. 13 in the westbound lanes of the highway in Bethel Township, about 75 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
Both lanes of Rt. 78 were shut down as the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared. Eastbound lanes of the roadway were not reopened until just before 5 a.m. and the westbound side reopened at about 7 a.m. Saturday, the article states.
The non-injured and stranded motorists were taken to a local fire department for shelter, according to pennlive.com. The crash sent more than 70 people to the hospital.
